'Trill OG' returns to RodeoHouston! Bun B's 'Southern Takeover' for Black Heritage Day
If you haven’t gotten your tickets to see Bun B’s ‘Southern Takeover’ concert at RodeoHouston, you better stop sleeping and get in there however you can.
The UGK Texas legend announced Tuesday that Tennesssee will be in the house as 8 Ball and MJG will also be performing.
Last week, it was revealed that Juvenile and Mannie Fresh will be representing the NOLA crew.

We were all wondering how the folks at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo would top last year’s Black Heritage Day performance featuring Bun B and friends, and it seems they got the memo – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The internet blew up when the rodeo announced that UGK’s “Trill OG” would be returning to centerstage at NRG Stadium on March 3 to headline the 2023 Black Heritage Day RodeoHouston performance.
“We are thrilled to welcome back so many talented artists including some fan favorites such as Houston rap legend, Bun B who will be taking the stage alongside some additional iconic southern performers,” said Chris Boleman, Rodeo President and CEO.
This time, though, Bun B will not be focusing on only H-Town talent, like he did last year, he announced that it will be a true “Southern Takeover,” featuring artists from other states, like Louisiana and Atlanta.
In 2022, Bun B shared the stage with other legendary Houston artists including Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Letoya Luckett, Tobe Nwigwe, Lil’ Flip and more, but it is time to expand the map to include more Dirty South A-Listers.

Now, the big question is — who will be with him?
When news first dropped, we said, if you left it up to us, we MUST bring in Master P, 8 Ball & MJG, Outkast, T.I., Ludacris, and a slew of others that we can argue over for days to come. Also, we do hope that Bun B will bring on Scarface, who could not appear last year possibly due to health reasons. His Geto Boys partner, Willie D, however, did perform.

If you were “disappointed” to not see Willie D of The Geto Boys last year, you weren’t paying very much attention. He performed “Mind is Playin Tricks On Me” just after Devin The Dude did “Doobie Ashtray.” J Prince came out after Willie finished and gave a little speech. I believe Scarface missed because of his health.
Thank you for the correction! I remember now. I have corrected the copy. I hope Scarface can make it this year!
