In this week’s “Twitter Talk” with the Black press, we let it all hang out on some serious – yet funny – topics. After GOP members attacked Biden on loan forgiveness, social media erupted. In a series of tweets, the White House spotlighted lawmakers complaining about student loan forgiveness despite the government ultimately forgiving those same members of Congress’ Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. The White House account specifically honed in on GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Reps. Markwayne Mullin and Kevin Hern of Oklahoma, Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, and Vern Buchanan of Florida. Each received large PPP loans during the pandemic.
Serena Williams’ final act in tennis will take place at Flushing Meadows, home of the US Open and the 2022 Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award went to key civil rights heroes over the weekend, including NNPA President and CEO Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr.
