The Harris County Clerk’s Office (HCCO) is bringing holiday cheer to hundreds of children and teens served by The Children’s Assessment Center (CAC). HCCO’s fourth annual Clerks for Christmas Toy Drive was once again a huge success. More than 600 toys and other gift donations, including certificates for dental services, were donated to the CAC. The CAC provides therapy, psychological services, and medical care free of charge to abused children and their families.

“HCCO’s goal is to brighten the holidays for children healing from the trauma of abuse,” said Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth. “Although our office has been very busy the last few months, we are grateful for the generosity of our clerks and community members who helped make this possible.”

The Clerks for Christmas Toy Drive was launched in 2020 with the purpose of serving children in our community, and HCCO chose to collaborate with the CAC because of the services it provides. The CAC exists to protect children, heal families, and prevent abuse.

“The Harris County Clerk’s Office has been helping us ensure this special time of year is filled with joyful memories for our clients,” expressed the CAC’s Executive Director Kerry McCracken. “Every year, our volunteers and community partners help make the holidays extra special for families experiencing tough times.”

Clerk Hudspeth thanks her Clerks for Christmas Toy Drive volunteers, staff, and everyone who donated to the toy drive! All the toys and gift items were delivered to the CAC on Wednesday, December 6, and will be distributed at their children’s holiday party next week.

“We believe that the true meaning of the holiday season is about helping others and bringing holiday cheer to hundreds of children and teens served by organizations like the CAC,” added Clerk Hudspeth. “The Clerks for Christmas Toy Drive was once again a huge success. We hope that in the coming years, we can come together to do more in our community.”
