In a heartwarming ceremony, former defensive end J.J. Watt was inducted into the Houston Texans’ Ring of Honor this past Sunday.
Watt, who became a standout during his tenure with the Texans, joined the ranks of receiver Andre Johnson and the late Bob McNair.
On the field to celebrate the occasion were Watt’s family members, including his wife, their son, and his brother Derek Watt.
The occasion was also marked by a special pre-recorded message from his other brother, T.J, who was ironically playing for the Steelers against Houston.
Cal McNair, the team owner, commended Watt’s impact, stating that Watt’s bond with Houston was “irreplaceable.”
During his speech, Watt fondly remembered his interception return for a touchdown in the Texans’ 2011 playoff win over the Bengals as his most cherished moment.
Off the field, his contributions were equally significant, having raised over $40 million for Hurricane Harvey relief.
Watt remarked on his retirement, expressing occasional longing for the energy of the game but reveling in the pain-free Mondays he now can enjoy since he no longer plays in those intense Sunday football games.
J.J. Watt’sinduction into the Houston Texans’ Ring of Honor is a heartwarming recognition of his outstanding career and contributions, both on and off the field. His impact on the community is truly remarkable, and he leaves a lasting legacy in Houston.
