The Sealy Police Department is mourning the loss of a valued member of its team.

“It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of K9 Apollo, who died abruptly in the early morning hours of September 11, 2023,” the department announced on social media.

Apollo was born on Christmas Day 2012 in the Czech Republic and was imported to the United States in 2014 before being graciously donated to the Department by K9Officers.org.

Apollo and his partner, Officer Eric Bryant, trained at the Houston K9 Academy and were a valued part of the team. Apollo served as an officer with the department for nearly a decade; and was loved dearly. He had recently been diagnosed with an age-related medical condition and his situation worsened more rapidly than anyone expected. He died surrounded by his family.

“If you desire, in lieu of gifts, please consider a contribution to K9Officers.org. They’re a local non-profit organization and they’ve donated dozens of K9s to agencies like Sealy PD, TX DPS, Harris County, Wharton County, Waller County, and so many more. We appreciate everyone’s kind words and support.

Rest easy Apollo, we’ll hold the line from here,” the department said.
