No matter how you feel about the digital era it’s here and more and more people are turning to digital platforms to generate additional income. If you are an entrepreneur looking to grow your brand or an influencer ready to take your aesthetic to the next level here are the top mistakes that you should stop making in order to build your followers.

First and foremost the easiest and most simple thing that you can do is clean your camera lens. We have all seen pictures on our social media feed that look blurred or faded and a lot of that has to do with the camera lens being smeared. Before you do any content creation take a wet cloth or a handy wipe and clean your lens for the best photo and video experience.

The second thing you should always do is make sure your surrounding area is aesthetically pleasing. Personally, I hate to see photos and videos of people out to dinner with half-eaten food on their plates and stained napkins. The “Art” of social media is to make it “Art”! Too much clutter in your background can kill the entire vibe of what you were trying to create and convey to the audience. Also, the point of being a content creator is to get brand deals and collaborations with businesses. A business will not work with you if you do not put their venue in the best light.

To ensure that you are creating at the highest level to get these businesses interested you have to know what app works best for you. Do you prefer Videoleap or Splice? Maybe you are only comfortable with Canva. You have to pay to play, so make sure you check out the best app for you and do your research.

Once you have followed the above steps and you are ready to put your content out to future millions of followers be sure that you are keeping it short, informative, and to the point. Ask yourself what you want to gain from this post. Followers, engagement, or sales? Tailor your photo and video around what you want your audience to do and keep it under 30 seconds for reels under 60 seconds for standard video posts and at least 3 carousel photos for an image post. This is also the method when posting to Pinterest and Twitter. If you are using YouTube this does not apply.
