The 2021 State Football Championship team at Paetow High School has a new football coach.  Coach Lonnie Teagle was formally announced as the new campus athletic coordinator and head football coach for the Paetow Panthers this week.

Teagle has 16 years of experience in education and coaching. He began his career in August 2006 at McMath Middle School in Denton Independent School District, where he was the campus athletic coordinator and physical education football, basketball and track coach.  In August 2012, he joined Denton High School as a world history teacher and head track and football wide receiver coach. During his five-year tenure at the high school, the Denton Broncos won two district championships, qualified for several regional and state games and earned several student-athletic recognitions in track and football.  Teagle decided to join Coppell High School in Coppell Independent School District in August 2017 as a U.S. History teacher and a running back and receivers coach.  Two years later, Teagle returned to Denton ISD, this time as a world geography teacher and as a running back coach for Denton Ryan High School.  A year later, he was promoted to offensive coordinator at Denton Ryan. While at Denton Ryan, Teagle was a key contributor to the football program’s success as the team reached the 5A Division 1 state title game in 2019 and subsequently won the 5A Division 1 state title in 2020.

“Coach Teagle comes highly recommended and brings a championship pedigree to the Paetow High School football and athletic program,” said Debbie Decker, Katy ISD Executive Director of Athletics.  “With his experience, we are confident that Coach Teagle and his staff will build upon the success of the Paetow HS football program.  His commitment to the development of the individual student/athlete stood out during the selection process and is matched only by his commitment to the overall success of the entire athletic program at Paetow High School,” added Decker.

Katy ISD is excited to welcome Coach Teagle and his family to the district.

Teagle holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from Alcorn State University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Texas Women’s University in Denton.
