As the final season of the Emmy and Peabody-winning series, Insecure prepares to air, many fans are wondering what Issa Rae’s next project is. Rae is currently working as an executive producer on several projects for HBO Max including, A Black Lady Sketch Show and Rap Sh*t.

But the project most fans are looking forward to is the reality series Sweet Life: Los Angeles. The reality series follows the unscripted lives of young Black entrepreneurs living in Los Angeles as they attempt to build their careers.

“We’re so proud to present a grounded and fun slice of young Black L.A. life. We hope the HBO Max audience will relate to and fall in love with this group of friends as much as we have,” said Rae in a press release.

Cast:

Cheryl Des Vignes

26-year-old Des Vignes rose spent a while in the fashion industry before creating her own clothing brand. Advocating for sustainability and body positivity, Des Vignes also mentors young women of color in her hometown, Watts Los Angeles.

Jerrold Smith II

This Los Angeles native is a former UCLA basketball player and has been a part of campaigns for Nike, Adidas, ESPN, and Sports Illustrated. But this 25-year-old is looking beyond sports and he currently works as an entertainment marketing specialist for Westbrook, Inc.

Amanda Scott

This 25-year-old real estate investor and entrepreneur’s dreams are to promote Black culture and entrepreneurship in South LA as the head of a PR firm. Scott also plans to ‘Buy Black the Block” by buying 100 properties in Black communities. Scott is currently working as a PR professional in financial services.

Jordan Bentley

Bentley created his clothing brand as a teenager. He is now 25 and the head of the multi-million dollar clothing line Hypland, one of the fastest-growing streetwear brands. Bentley hopes to prove that it’s never too early to turn your passions into careers.

Tylynn Burns

Founder and director of operations of House Party Creative, Burns brings Black and Brown creatives, entrepreneurs, and influencers together in professional spaces. The 26-year-old also founded #RealBlackGiveBack and Real Black Greatness, which are two charitable initiatives created on Juneteenth of this year.

P’Jae Compton

Compton co-owns record label Lost Sound and is an artist manager in the music industry. The 27-year-old was recognized in 2019 by the Los Angeles Dodgers for his work in modeling, fashion, and social media.

Briana Jones

Raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jones moved to Los Angeles in 2018. She is the founder of an organic body butter brand called Buttered by Bri.
