It’s the right kind of food at definitely the right location, and we are sure the good eats at Deshaun Watson’s new restaurant will hit the “right spot” with fans.

The Houston Texans star quarterback opened Lefty’s Cheesesteak on Tuesday at 8057 Kirby Dr., half a mile from NRG Stadium.

The menu includes hearty “Game Day” foods including, signature hoagies, burgers, cold cuts and corned beef sandwiches, coney dogs, and sides and appetizers galore, specifically yummy buffalo chicken, corned beef or cheesesteak-filled eggrolls.

Lefty’s Cheesesteak, a fast-casual, counter-service restaurant, was founded by 36-year-old cancer survivor Sam Berry in a Detroit suburb in 2010.

Since then, the eatery has been on a massive expansion campaign in the last 24 months, with dozens of locations opening in Michigan, Texas and California. Lefty’s partnered with Watson in August 2020, making him an owner and the new face of the brand.

Watson’s teammates and celebrity friends were on hand to show their support at the grand opening, and Watson surprised customers by giving away more than 60 autographed items, including footballs and photographs.

In addition to Lefty’s founder, other notables in attendance included CEO Allie T. Mallad; Watson’s mother Deann Watson and other family members from Georgia; Texans teammates Laremy Tunsil, Brandin Cooks, Duke Johnson and Roderick Johnson; rappers Z-Ro and Willie D of the Geto Boys; and hospitality industry movers and shakers chef Ryan Lachaine of Riel, Patsy Vivares of Sticky’s Chicken, Ben Williams of Highway Vodka and Paul Miller of Gr8 Plate Hospitality.

Houston Texans Cheerleaders and mascot TORO greeted customers at the entrance, along with a parade of luxury vehicles from Exotic Cars and a DJ to commemorate opening day.

Lefty’s is now open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

As Lefty’s founder Sam Berry says, “If you don’t eat left, you don’t eat right!”
