Robert “Bob” Lee, a technology executive who founded the mobile payment company Cash App, died this week after he was stabbed near downtown San Francisco.
Police officers found the 43-year-old with apparent stab wounds around 2:35 a.m. Tuesday. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but his injuries were too severe.
Police Chief Bill Scott said the investigation is in its early stages and called Lee’s death a horrific crime.
According to TMZ, his final moments were terrifying as he screamed out for help while walking the desolate streets. He had been stabbed twice in the chest by an unknown assailant.

Lee was known as a giant in the tech and financial industries.
He had been working as the chief product officer of the cryptocurrency company MobileCoin, and was previously chief technology officer of Square, which is now known as Block.
Lee went on to create Cash App, a money transfer service that so many of us use today.
He also was an investor in Elon Musk’s SpaceX venture, as well as other tech firms, such as Clubhouse, a social audio app.
Lee has been living in Miami with his father since October. The father and son had grown especially close after Lee’s mother died in 2019. His father posting a heartbreaking message on social media, saying he’s lost his best friend.
