Selena: The Series part two has arrived on Netflix and an encounter between young Beyoncé and the Como la Flor singer has audiences buzzing.

In episode six, young Beyoncé and Solange Knowles are at the Galleria Mall in Houston with their mother, Tina Knowles, when Beyoncé spots Selena. Young Beyoncé is immediately star struck and responds with a nervous hello after Selena says ‘Hi.’

Beyoncé opened up about the encounter in a previous interview with MTV Tr3s.

“I didn’t say much to Selena because I wasn’t a celebrity,” said Beyoncé in the interview. “And I just saw her and said hello and kept it moving.”

“Growing up in Texas, I heard her on the radio, and I think listening to her album, even though I didn’t know exactly what she was singing, it helped me in the studio with my pronunciation.”

Beyoncé goes on to call Selena a “legend” and says that even though Selena didn’t know who she was, she was excited to have that opportunity.

It’s been 26 years since Selena was fatally shot at the age of 23 by Yolanda Saldívar in 1995. Her beauty, music, and memory continues to live on in Texas and beyond.
