It’s been over a week since Bernie Sanders attended the Presidential inauguration, but his iconic meme is still being shared and recreated on all social media platforms.

The photo of Sanders sitting in his lawn chair on the capitol steps with his fuzzy knit mittens was meme magic.

Since that historic moment in pop culture, Sanders and his chair has been digitally placed everywhere from bedrooms to backyard baby showers.

The hysteria has even carried over to the maker of the gloves.

Second-grade school teacher Jen Ellis, 42, made the gloves for all of the teachers at her school. it just so happens that Senator Sanders’ daughter-in-law owned the school and gifted Sanders the gloves.

“I had absolutely no idea. I mean, this actually started about a year ago when he was wearing them on the campaign trail. And so there was some Twitter buzz then. I’m so excited that he likes the mittens and he wants to wear them. They are practical and warm, and they look nice. And, yeah, I had no idea that this is what would happen,” said Ellis in an interview with NPR.

Although Ellis says she has no desire to quit her job and start a glove business, she did auction off a few gloves for charity.

Sanders is also being very cool about his newfound meme stardom. The 79-year-old sexy senior told Seth Meyers on the late show that he was not trying to make a statement he was just trying to pay attention and enjoy the moment.

“I was just sitting there trying to keep warm and pay attention to what was going on,” said Sanders.
