For years, hip-hop fans picked a side.

Cash Money or No Limit.

Now, two of the record labels that helped turn New Orleans into a hip-hop powerhouse are sharing the same stage — and fans are showing up for it.

The Cash Money & No Limit Tour opened with sold-out shows in Houston on Sept. 11 and New Orleans on Sept. 12 before heading to Atlanta on Sept. 18. The 17-city tour brings together artists whose music helped define Southern hip-hop in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Birdman and Master P headline the tour, with Juvenile, Mannie Fresh and B.G. representing the Cash Money roster. Boosie Badazz is also scheduled for select dates, along with additional special guests.

But this one hits differently for fans who remember when Cash Money and No Limit weren’t mentioned together without somebody choosing a team.

Both labels came out of New Orleans and built national movements with distinctly Southern sounds, styles and identities. No Limit’s tank and Cash Money’s millionaires became competing symbols of a city producing some of the most influential music in hip-hop.

Mannie Fresh recently told Houston’s Majic 102.1 that the perceived rivalry wasn’t necessarily as deep behind the scenes as fans believed.

“We all came from that music thing,” Fresh said, “but somebody had to pick a side.”

Decades later, nobody has to.

The tour’s New Orleans stop turned into a true homecoming at the Superdome, complete with another memorable moment when B.G. proposed to his girlfriend, Brooke Jones, onstage before the hometown crowd.

For Birdman, bringing the two camps together is about more than nostalgia.

“Bringing our people together on one stage, in front of the fans who rode with us from the beginning is what this is about,” he said. “We built something that lasted, and this tour is us celebrating that with everybody.”

Cash Money co-founder Ronald “Slim” Williams called the pairing a tribute to New Orleans and the city that helped shape both movements.

“Putting Cash Money and No Limit on the same stage is bigger than a tour — it’s a tribute to where we come from and everything that city poured into us,” Williams said.

And maybe that’s the real story.

A generation ago, fans argued over which New Orleans powerhouse ran the South.

In 2026, they can buy one ticket and celebrate them both.
