Grab the leash and lace up your sneakers — it’s time to hit the trail.
Alvin Community College (ACC) is inviting the community to celebrate the grand reopening of its beloved jogging trail with a Tails and Trails event on Friday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A New Look for a Neighborhood Favorite

For decades, ACC’s two-mile jogging trail has been a quiet gem of the campus — a place where students recharge between classes, families stroll in the evenings, and neighbors connect on morning walks. After a complete renovation, the trail is ready for a new chapter.

The updated path features a brand-new surface plus covered resting areas and planters, each paired with exercise instructions to inspire healthy living. These improvements were made possible through community donors and sponsorships via the ACC Foundation, underscoring the trail’s deep roots in local pride and support.

More Than a Walk: A Full Wellness Expo

The celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. near the Nolan Ryan Center. Throughout the morning, attendees can explore a wellness expo spotlighting ACC’s Allied Health programs and enjoy booths from local vendors offering everything from fitness and massage to farm-fresh goods and pet services.

Confirmed participants include: Froberg Farms, Alvin Animal Shelter, Grit+Grind Coffee Shop, Alvin HotWorx, Lonestar Pawz Rescue, Three Little Pitties Rescue, Alvin Parks & Recreation, Synergy Massage, Youth for Christ, and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center (offering on-site blood donations).

Animal lovers can learn about pet adoptions and receive free pet vaccines, while guests of all ages can enjoy healthy activities, giveaways, and community fun.

A Celebration for All

ACC’s Tails and Trails event is free and open to the public, welcoming both people and their four-legged friends to be part of the celebration. Whether you come to walk, adopt, donate, or just soak in the community spirit, it’s a morning built for connection — and for wagging tails.
