OutKast: Southern Innovators

Atlanta’s own OutKast, comprising André 3000 and Big Boi, have been inducted in the Performer category. Emerging in the mid-1990s, the duo redefined Southern hip-hop with albums like ATLiens, Aquemini, and the Grammy-winning Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Their eclectic sound and lyrical prowess expanded the boundaries of hip-hop, earning them critical acclaim and commercial success.

Salt-N-Pepa: Trailblazing Female Voices

Salt-N-Pepa, the pioneering female rap group from New York City, will receive the Musical Influence Award. Formed in 1985, the trio—Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper—broke barriers with hits like “Push It,” “Shoop,” and “Whatta Man.” They became the first female rap act to achieve gold and platinum status, paving the way for future generations of women in hip-hop.
