Beyoncé, Houston’s own global superstar, is saddling up once again — and this time, she’s bringing her Southern roots front and center.

On Monday, April 28, the “Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour” officially kicks off at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The tour supports Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed Cowboy Carter album — a genre-bending project that boldly redefines country music through a Black lens, honoring its historical roots and reclaiming space for Black artistry in a genre often whitewashed by history.

But for Houston fans, the excitement is only just beginning. Beyoncé is set to return home for two unforgettable shows at NRG Stadium on June 28 and June 29 — bringing the Cowboy Carter era back to where it all started.

A Houston Story at Heart

For many, Cowboy Carter feels like Beyoncé’s full-circle moment.
Born and raised in Houston’s Third Ward, Beyoncé has long woven Southern culture into her artistry — but this album and tour make it explicit.

From the album’s use of twang, gospel cadences, fiddle riffs, and outlaw imagery, to its tributes to Black country legends like Linda Martell, Beyoncé’s project reminds the world: country music started with Black folks. It’s not just a musical shift — it’s a cultural statement.

“This album isn’t a country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé album,'” she shared in a statement earlier this year. “This is act ii: COWBOY CARTER, and I am proud to be celebrating my roots and redefining what freedom sounds like.”

The tour name itself — “Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit” — nods to the historic “Chitlin’ Circuit,” a network of Black venues where African American musicians performed safely during segregation. It’s a deliberate connection to both pain and pride — resilience and rebellion.

What to Expect on Tour

Fans attending the Cowboy Carter tour can expect a stunning mashup of country, soul, pop, and pure Beyoncé showmanship. Early reports hint at a setlist that mixes tracks from Cowboy Carter with reimagined versions of classic Beyoncé hits like “Daddy Lessons,” “Halo,” and “Formation.”

In true Queen Bey fashion, fans can also anticipate dazzling visuals, cinematic storytelling, and powerful tributes to Black cowboys, cowgirls, and trailblazers.

A Moment Bigger Than Music

For Houston — and for Black America — Cowboy Carter is more than an album, and this tour is more than a concert.

It’s a reclamation. A celebration. And a powerful reminder that Beyoncé is still that hometown girl who knows exactly where she came from — and isn’t afraid to carry a piece of it onto the world stage.

As Beyoncé once said herself:

“Texas always in my roots. Can’t take the South out of me.”

And come June, Houston will get to witness it live — loud, proud, and cowboy-hatted.
