Get ready for a magical holiday season at City Place in north Houston! A series of festive events awaits this December at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive in Spring, Texas. With family-friendly activities and plenty of community cheer, this destination is perfect for holiday fun.

A Bright Start: Tree Lighting and Gingerbread Village

To kick off the season, City Place will host its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration on December 1 from 3-7 p.m. This free event includes the lighting of a 35-foot Christmas tree, floating beautifully on City Place Park’s main pond. Plus, Santa will make an appearance, spreading cheer for all.

Along with the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy a whimsical Giant Gingerbread Village. Created by the artists behind Houston’s Seismique Museum, this installation includes towering candy trees, cookie paths, and life-sized gingerbread figures to explore.

Holiday Market, Movie Night, and Creative Fun

On December 13, families are invited to bring blankets and chairs for a special screening of The Polar Express. Free train rides around the pond will be available from 4:30-6:30 p.m., while the movie begins at 7 p.m.

To satisfy holiday shopping needs, the Plaza will host a Holiday Market on December 14. Here, local vendors will feature holiday décor, baked goods, and unique finds. Additionally, kids can decorate cookies at Common Bond Bistro & Bakery’s fun station.

Family Shows, Dance Classes, and Fitness Fun

The holiday lineup continues with free performances of Mr. Leo’s Puppet Show on December 21. Likewise, Andy Rooniverse returns on December 22 for a Happy Holidays Music Show, offering sing-alongs and interactive fun.

Moreover, City Place offers recurring programs like MDSA’s Be Dance! Classes, yoga, and Saturday fitness sessions. These welcoming events allow families to enjoy active holiday fun together.

The FUN BUS makes a pit stop at City Place on December 8 from noon until 2 pm for an exciting mobile gym experience designed for kids ages 18 months to 7 years. Featuring two enthusiastic instructors leading games, obstacle courses, and themed activities, kids can swing, bounce, and climb in a colorful, safe, 35-foot refurbished school bus. 

Precision Xecution Fitness brings complimentary strength and conditioning classes to The Plaza every Saturday – December 7, 14, 21, and 28 – with two, 45-minute sessions starting at 8:30 am and 9:15 am. Participants can join a vibrant community of individuals committed to achieving their fitness goals with the help of expert trainers, energizing music and a supportive atmosphere. 

Fitness sessions continue with complimentary Yoga on the Plaza every Saturday – December 7, 14, 21, and 28 – at 10 am. The one-hour experience includes a meditation element and is the perfect way to jump start the weekend. 

Artful Holiday Decor

Throughout December, holiday art installations by local artist Anat Ronen add seasonal magic to City Place. Don’t miss out on the giant gingerbread family, 3-D mural wall, and candy cane decorations. Each display creates picture-perfect moments for holiday memories.
