The family of Chauncy Glover, a cherished journalist and former ABC13 Houston news anchor, has shared news of his passing at 39. Recently joining KCAL News in Los Angeles, Glover died on Tuesday, leaving behind a powerful legacy of compassion and service.
A Life Committed to Journalism and Community
Chauncy’s parents, Sherry and Robert Glover, expressed their profound sorrow: “He was more than a son and brother—he was a beacon of light in our lives and a hero to his community,” they said. “Through his work with the Chauncy Glover Project, he inspired countless young men to pursue their dreams. His kindness, talent, and vision left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.”

Throughout his career, Chauncy was known for his commitment to both truth and compassion. He created a legacy that continues to inspire.
“Chauncy was a bright light not only in Houston newsrooms but the community as a whole. We loved his smile, his impeccable style and his huge, giving heart most of all,” said Nakia Cooper, president of Houston Association of Black Journalists. “Chauncy was dedicated to mentoring young men and went above and beyond to change lives of those in need. He will be truly missed, and will live in our hearts forever.”
The Chauncy Glover Project: A Lasting Impact
Growing up in Athens, Alabama, Chauncy discovered his passion for journalism as a child. This passion carried him to ABC13 in Houston and, more recently, to KCAL News in Los Angeles.
After witnessing a tragedy in Detroit, Chauncy founded the Chauncy Glover Project, which has since supported over 300 young men of color in achieving their educational goals. Recognized by President Barack Obama through the My Brother’s Keeper initiative, the program stands as a testament to Chauncy’s dedication.
Remembering Chauncy Glover’s Spirit
Chauncy’s friend and publicist, Jordyn Dean, shared a heartfelt tribute: “Chauncy was family. To my children, he was an uncle—a source of warmth, laughter, and wisdom. He helped others selflessly, simply because he cared. His kindness lives on in all of us who knew him.”
