Ashanti broke the news on IG, saying, “Funny how life’s plans don’t always stick to the schedule… lol. I’ve been dreaming about being a mom for so long, but nothing could have prepared me for all the feels that come with it! This is what postpartum looks like, and I’m living for these super cozy @fridamom shorts! Shoutout to my body for blessing me with my baby boy! 😆” You know she had to add a little humor in there!

She revealed in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight that she chose the name Kareem Kenkaide Haynes to honor her father although they have started calling the newborn by his initials K.K. “Kenkaide is my dad’s name and obviously my dad has only girls and so Nelly was like that would be really really dope. It was all his idea,” said Ashanti.

Ashanti dropped her pregnancy bombshell back in April with a hilarious skit featuring her mom, Tina Douglas? The skit was titled “Baby, baby, baby, baby”—a nod to her 2002 hit.
