People make all the difference at McDonald’s. They are at the heart of every McDonald’s restaurant– providing delicious, feel-good moments that bring out the best in people. And to bring out the best in them, people who work at McDonald’s restaurants have access to a host of benefits to meet them wherever they are in life. From full-time or part-time flexible schedules and career advancement opportunities to flexible scheduling and tuition assistance, a job at a McDonald’s restaurant can work for everyone.

“As local business owners, it is important to me and my fellow owner/operators that we invest in the communities throughout Texas where we live and serve,” said Carla Moore, president of the Greater Houston McDonald’s owner/operators. “We’re proud to promote a culture of care in our restaurants and provide meaningful employment and high school and college education programs to our crew and managers that can open the door to a brighter future.”

Through Archways to Opportunity, McDonald’s signature education and career advising program, crew and managers at participating restaurants can earn a high school diploma, take English as a Second Language classes, get tuition assistance and receive free guidance from advisors. McDonald’s also has partnerships with Colorado Technical University (CTU) and Western Governors University (WGU) as well as local community colleges, that allow restaurant employees to earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree at little to no cost. Since the program’s inception, McDonald’s and participating independent owner/operators have given out more than $9.5 million in tuition assistance for employees across Texas.

“My bosses want me to succeed. They encouraged me to apply for Archways to Opportunity tuition assistance, which has made a huge difference in my educational journey by offsetting the expense of some of my college courses,” said Yashmine Hernandez, a McDonald’s Houston employee. “I plan to get a post-graduate degree and continue to take advantage of the Archways to Opportunity assistance that McDonald’s provides.”

Flexible scheduling makes it easier for restaurant workers to manage and build a schedule that works for them. Employees at participating locations can go online to view their schedule, update availability, request time away and post shifts for replacement or swapping.

Additionally, throughout Texas, participating McDonald’s locations are offering several other benefits, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, free employee meals and competitive wages.
