In the spirit of the holiday season, generous donors brought thousands of toys for children to enjoy at Texas Children’s Hospital for the 3rd year in a row. The gifts will be delivered to children in their hospital rooms over the next week, just in time to celebrate the holidays. Many parents of patients may not have the time or resources to plan and shop for holiday gifts, so each family is given a digital Candy Cane Wish List form to request what they wish for the holidays. It is also a very welcome distraction from day-to-day hospital activities.

More info:

  • Dubbed Candy Cane Lane, the three hospital locations of Texas Children’s Hospital were transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with a gingerbread house, to welcome supporters as they brought toys and games.
  • Donors and staff alike look forward to Candy Cane Lane every year, and the energy was electric.
  • Items donated include Legos, cars, dolls, arts, crafts and more.
  • A team of volunteer elves put together personalized gift bags for the patients and their siblings from the items donated.
  • Physicians, nurses and staff at Texas Children’s Hospital will deliver gifts to their patients over the next week.
  • Each December, the local community rounds up a generous amount of donations to gift to the children.
