Sharon Wright, HCC’s director of board services, has received the Association of Community College Trustees 2022 Professional Board Staff Member Award for the association’s western region.

The award recognizes outstanding support to the HCC’s nine-member Board of Trustees. The association is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the U.S. and internationally.

Wright works closely with the board and the administration to prepare the board agenda. She leads a team that supports board members in their capacity as the governing board of the college and community engagement.

“Since her arrival at HCC, Sharon has demonstrated the ability to advance our mission and One College vision by providing support to the institution and the Board of Trustees,” said Chancellor Cesar Maldonado, Ph.D., P.E. “We greatly value her contributions to HCC.”

“I am deeply honored by this recognition,” Wright said. “I value my work with the trustees of Houston Community College as they guide the college to be more accessible and inclusive. The importance of their work brings significance to mine.”

Wright has been recognized frequently for her outstanding performance. Other recognitions include: recipient of the Chancellor’s Medallion for Outstanding Services, Recognition for contributions as a member of HCC T-100, recognition at the Employee Significant Awards Luncheon for years of services to HCC, recognition for outstanding contributions to faith-based organization in providing leadership in outreach and community engagement, election as National Women Of Achievement, Incorporated (NWOA) Houston Chapter recording secretary for 2021-2023, NWOA Houston Chapter 2022 Most Congeniality and Encourager Recognition.
