We need to all take a moment to send our prayers of strength and comfort to Houston rap legend ESG who has recently announced his battle cancer.

The “Swangin and Bangin” rapper, whose real name is Cedric Hill, is also part of H-Town’s famous Screwed Up Click.

His team posted the following message on Instagram Friday:

“Our Everyday Street Gangsta is currently in the hospital recovering from emergency surgery. He has been diagnosed with cancer. His social media accounts will be managed by his team during this time. He asks that all of his fans and supporters pray for him as he recovers from his surgery and fights this unexpected illness. He wants y’all to know that he loves all of y’all. #SUC – Screw U Cancer!”

ESG and all of Houston’s hip-hop heavy hitters have been riding a nostalgic wave of success recently, with Houston once again on the forefront, after performances at huge events including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the 713 Day concert, etc.

[Throwback: One of the MANY songs that made us recognize the greatness of ESG]

On June 20, ESG just posted on his page about the #Carchella custom car show, with The Breakfast Klub’s DJ Envy, Rick Ross, Trae tha Truth and Turkey Leg Hut owner Lynn Price.

One thing we know for certain, ESG is a fighter so we know he is going to gather all his strength to kick cancer’s ass! We are riding with you homie!
