Everything she touches turns to gold. At least, that is what the brass proves! Congratulations to American Idol alumna Jennifer Hudson who just became a member of the EGOT club.

For those of you who don’t know, EGOT is an acronym for people who obtained an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. Only 16 others in history have accomplished this, including Rita Moreno, Alan Menken, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Mike Nichols, Mel Brooks and Whoopi Goldberg, the first Black woman to reach this elite status.

Hudson has been on an awe-inspiring upswing of entertainment accomplishments since stealing America’s heart as one of the fan favorites on American Idol. Hudson was as shocked as everyone else during her elimination (Fantasia was crowned the overall winner), but has gone on to be a meteoric superstar revered by many.

For her most recent win, on Sunday, Hudson took home Tony gold for producing “A Strange Loop.”

Hudson won an Oscar win in the category of best supporting actress for her performance of “Effie White” in 2006’s “Dreamgirls.” Since then, has snatched up two performing Grammys — one for best musical theater album for “The Color Purple” in 2017 and another for best R&B album for her self-titled album in 2009 — as well as a Daytime Emmy for executive producing the VR-animated film “Baby Yaga.”

Congratulations again to our own “dream girl,” keep being a beacon of light for many more to follow.
