The Spout Podcast Host Tamara Dhia felt like it was “About Damn Time” for a second interview with the 3x GRAMMY-winner LIZZO.  The two got together right around “thick-30” to clear up the rumors about Harry Styles and Chris Evans while revealing her thoughts around a possible second season of her Amazon Prime hit reality TV Show, and the blood, sweat, and tears it took for the inclusive singer to share her lessons of self-love and acceptance with the world.

Fresh off the release of her summer smash “About Damn Time,” with her highly- anticipated upcoming album, Special, due to hit stores in July, Host Dhia jumped right into the internet rumors asking if there was, in fact, a duet with Harry Styles on the new album.

“That is so funny. The internet going to internet. That’s all I’ll say about that,” quips Lizzo.

Not the response we hoped for, but Dhia moves on to the next burning question asking about Lizzo’s famous crush, Chris Evans, and if there is any collaboration to be found on the new album.

“I literally hit him up and was like, play piano on my album and he just said, ‘Ha Ha’, said Lizzo. “It would have been really cool, but unfortunately not this time.”

That’s a letdown, but according to the Platinum-selling superstar the album is promised to be filled with “really good music.”  She admits, “I think people are going to be really surprised at how many love songs are on this album.”

Love seems to be surrounding the chart-topper as she finds success in many other avenues including her Amazon Prime reality TV show “Watch Out For The Big Grrrls” which has earned the No. 1 slot on Prime with its diversity-focused mission to find backup dancers. Host Dhia asks Lizzo why she thinks the show is connecting so strongly with audiences.

“I think it’s because of the stories,” reflects Lizzo. “I couldn’t have found better human beings to represent the big girls. They are so talented, so beautiful, and so willing to be vulnerable. And I think vulnerability is, you know, everyone has like a bullshit detector these days, like, we can read through bullshit. And I think none of these girls are bullish. All of these girls are 100% real. And I think people really connect with that.”

Another reality that is important to Lizzo is reversing the beauty standard with her shapewear brand, Yitty. Taking the lead as a “disruptor in shapewear” she explains the brand’s mission, saying, “We want to eliminate the standard that comes with having to wear shapewear, where people feel like they need to look a certain way so they buy certain products. I want to reverse it. ‘How do you want to look?’ Because I have a product for how you want to look and you should feel good when you wear this.”

It would seem feeling good is the motivation for Lizzo, as she has diligently and openly strived to love herself unconditionally. She says, “I worked hard for years. Lots of prayers, meditation, therapy, books, loneliness, tears, late nights, anxiety, and stress. And it was hard. And I wanted to be the kind of person, an artist, that could create avenues and lanes so people could find that unconditional self-love easier without the pain that I experienced.

“I want to make loving yourself easier for the next generation so that one day it’s not even a conversation; it comes naturally.”
