Dave Chapelle tackled on stage during Hollywood Bowl performance

Are comedians becoming the most dangerous occupation in America? It sure seems like it after this latest attack on Dave Chapelle during the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival at the Hollywood Bowl.

During the middle of Chapelle’s performance, a man rushed the stage and tackled him to the ground. The unidentified man then tried to get up and run away, but was caught by security and Jamie Foxx. That’s right, Jamie Foxx.

Chapelle shook off the incident and got up to joke, “It was a trans man.” Chris Rock, who performed earlier, got on the stage and said, “Was that Will Smith?” referring to “The Slap“, the infamous attack on Chris Rock by Will Smith during the Oscars.

There isn’t any decent footage of the altercation, as Chapelle has a “no phones” policy in which guests are required to put phones in a Yondr device. Some folks in the cheap seats of the show managed to get some clips of the incident and the aftermath.
