The  hi-anticipated modern Italian chophouse, Marmo, will open its doors on Wednesday, April 6 in the stylish new Montrose Collective mixed-use development at 888 Westheimer Road in the heart of Houston.

The latest high-profile concept from the Maryland-based operators, Marmo joins an award-winning portfolio of restaurants in both Baltimore and the Bayou City, where Atlas first entered the Texas market in 2019 with Ouzo Bay and Loch Bar in the River Oaks District. Marmo is influenced by the successful Baltimore sister concept Tagliata

“Houston has always had an affinity for quality Italian cuisine, and I am ecstatic to be part of the team bringing this high-quality addition to the Montrose area, a longtime dining destination for both locals and visitors,” said Director of Operations Scott Sulma. “Marmo is special because it has the unique ability to be both a casual neighborhood restaurant and an elevated dining destination.”

Marmo’s design scheme by the sought-after interior designer Patrick Sutton reflects its modern culinary direction with a warm sensibility that relies heavily on texture and contemporary materials intermixed with playful accents, such as organic jute lighting fixtures that interject an element of surprise. Striking black and white marble elements found throughout create movement and expression while paying homage to the restaurant’s namesake, which translates to marble in Italian.

The elegant lounge area serves as an inviting entry to Marmo and features a U-shaped marble bar with seating for 19 along with an additional 10 seats in the lounge. A grand piano is the focal point of the venue and will welcome a rotation of local musicians nightly and during lunch Saturday and Sunday. Accommodating up to 120 guests, the dining room is separated by panels of drapery creating a sense of curiosity and romance and overlooks bustling Lower Westheimer. Perfectly timed to spring, Marmo also boasts a large, covered and shaded patio within the central gathering space at Montrose Collective.

Curated by Atlas Chef Partner Julian Marucci in partnership with Executive Chef Eli Jackson, the menu puts steaks into the spotlight with an array of premium hand-cuts from local, domestic, and international purveyors. All are dry aged with some varieties hand cut onsite. Also featuring prominently are fresh hand-rolled pastas – including a delectable Squid Ink Campanelle, encompassing fresh blue crab, uni cream sauce, chili, basil, and breadcrumbs – as well as Italian classics such as chicken and eggplant parmigiana, chicken marsala and veal chop Milanese.  The menu also offers an assortment of fresh seafood specialties such as oysters on the half shell and red snapper with caramelized fennel and fennel pollen pesto.

A robust, 22-page wine list is the ace of the beverage program and largely focuses on Italian varietals by the glass and a cellar’s collection with back vintage gems. Guests can also enjoy an assortment of local and imported beers, Italian aperitifs, and expertly crafted cocktails. Daily happy hour will feature spritz and wine specials with Peroni on tap.

The dinner menu will be served Sunday through Thursday from 4 until 10 pm with bar service until midnight and Friday and Saturday from 4 pm until midnight with bar service until 1 am. Lunch will be available Monday through Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. Happy hour will be offered at the bar, in the lounge and on the patio Sunday through Friday from 3-6 pm.
