It doesn’t get more southern than crispy fried pork chops. Whether it’s served with macaroni & cheese and collard greens or slapped between two slices of bread, fried pork chops are a classic delicacy. This recipe is brought to you by our friends over at Cooking Professionally.

Ingredients

• 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying 

• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 

• 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt, or to taste 

• salt, to taste • pepper, to taste 

• 4 (3/4-inch-thick) pork chops 

• green peas, cooked, optional, for serving 

• macaroni and cheese, optional, for serving

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet on the stove-top over medium-high heat, heat the oil.

Step 2

In a plastic resealable bag, combine the flour, seasoning salt, salt, and pepper.

Step 3

Place the pork chops in the bag, seal, and shake to coat the chops.

Step 4

Once the oil is thoroughly heated, remove the pork chops from the bag, shaking off any excess flour.

Step 5

Fry the chops in the skillet until golden on the outside and the juices run clear, about 4-5 minutes per side. The chops should have an internal temperature of 145 degrees F when measured with a meat thermometer.

Step 6

Serve hot with macaroni and cheese and green peas.
