We hate to compare our current top doc of the nation to one of our favorite Real Housewives of Atlanta stars, but it seems that Dr. Anthony Fauci is taking a page from Kenya Moore’s book saying, “don’t come for me unless I send for you.”

The highly-respected infectious disease expert we’ve been relying on to get us safely through the pandemic is squaring off against Texas Senator Ted Cruz who seemingly flat out accused Fauci of lying to Congress when he denied in May that the National Institutes of Health funded research at a lab in Wuhan, China.

Cruz is urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Fauci’s statements.

Well Fauci is not taking that lying down, calling the GOP criticism “nonsense.”

He also fired back, asking why is it that HE should be prosecuted, posing a question to Cruz saying, “What happened on Jan. 6, senator?”

Fauci is referencing the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and Cruz helping lead GOP objections to Congress’ certifying the 2020 election results.

Fauci was asked in a CBS “Face the Nation” interview, which aired Sunday, whether Republicans might be raising the claims to make him a scapegoat and deflect criticism of Trump, to which he replied, “of course, you have to be asleep not to figure that one out.”

Dr. Fauci said, “I’m just going to do my job and I’m going to be saving lives, and they’re going to be lying.”
