YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul has been making a name for himself in the boxing industry over the past year.

The protégé of World Boxing Champ Shane Moseley has been competing in exhibition fights as he works toward a professional title match.

For the past four months, Paul has been in a match of words and wits with former MMA fighter Ben Askren, who finally agreed to an exhibition match with Paul.

Unfortunately for Askren, the smack talk came to a head during a very short Pay-Per-View fight Saturday night called “Triller Fight Club.”

Askren only lasted one round with Paul, who knocked him out in one minute and 59 seconds.

“It’s been four months, I’ve been in training camp every day,” Paul told reporters following his win. “I deserve this shit. I don’t know how many times I have to prove myself that this is for real.”

Askren had a different message after the fight for those who said participating in the fight would hurt his legacy.

“I wasn’t nervous at all because, at the end of the day, my life doesn’t change one way or the other,” Askren said. “In MMA, I was always pursuing or defending a world title, and you know, today, I was doing a fun boxing match. If it turned out great, then great. If it turned out shit, then my life is the same. So there were really no nerves whatsoever.”

Fans of the MMA star shouldn’t be too upset with the retired fighter’s response. He literally made $500K to talk smack for 4 months and to get knocked out in a minute.

We say Askren takes the win on that one!

Paul also took home a hefty payday with a disclosed earning of $690,000.

It has not been discussed if or when Paul will be stepping into the ring with professional title holding boxers, but he doesn’t really need to at this point.

Tell us what you think? Should Paul keep competing in exhibitions or step his game up to the big leagues?
