March Madness will close out the basketball collegiate season as Baylor and Gonzaga face off to claim the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship.
The Final Four did not disappoint as the greatest college basketball teams have displayed above par athleticism after a year marred by COVID.
Now it’s down to the last two teams. Baylor University, out of Waco, Texas and Gonzaga University from Spokane, Washington.
Both Baylor and Gonzaga were favorites to win last year before COVID, and both teams are looking to make history in this year’s tournament.
“A lot of teams have Jims. And a lot of teams have Joes,” said NBA legend Charles Barkley about the quality players on each team. “Baylor and Gonzaga are the only two teams in the tournament with Jims and Joes.”
If Gonzaga wins they will become the first Division I men’s basketball team to finish a season undefeated since the 1975-76 championship game. They would also become the first non-power conference school to win a national championship since 1990.
Baylor would also be looking to take home its first NCAA title for the first time.
Together the teams have had an impressive year with a combined .967 winning percentage of Gonzaga, which is the highest in a title game.
Baylor and Gonzaga have combined for a .967 win percentage this season, the 3rd-highest in any NCAA Tournament game all-time.
