President-elect Joe Biden is doing his part to encourage and ensure Americans that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe.
Biden and soon-to-be first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, both received their vaccines Monday at ChristianaCare’s Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
“We owe these folks an awful lot,” Biden said, thanking those involved in the vaccine’s development and distribution, and frontline health care workers.
Biden also took a moment to thank the Trump Administration for helping to get the vaccine out so swiftly.
Currently, there are two vaccines on the market; Pfizer and Moderna.
Biden told reporters that he wanted to get his shot on live television to show Americans they have nothing to fear.
“I also think that it’s worth saying that this is great hope. I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared, when it’s available, to take the vaccine. There’s nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the second shot; so is Jill,” Biden said.
The first round of vaccines will be distributed to the elderly and essential workers, followed by another round that will be made available to the public as early as February 2021.
