Kroger has announced that they will partner with state health departments and the federal government to provide access to the FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine locally and across the nation, aligned with the federal roll-out plan.

With 106 pharmacies in Greater Houston and over 2,200 pharmacies nationwide, Kroger’s widespread presence in local communities gives them the unique ability to efficiently administer the vaccine to a large portion of the population.

“At Kroger Health we are committed to helping people live healthier lives. We have been diligent to do our part in the community to stop the spread of the virus, including partnering with city and county health departments to provide free drive-through COVID-19 testing,” said Marla Fielder, Director of Pharmacy for Kroger Houston. “Affordable antibody testing is now available at all Greater Houston Kroger pharmacies, and our team of healthcare professionals are actively preparing for the authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine. Kroger Health stands with you to keep Houston and the surrounding communities healthy and safe.”

Throughout the pandemic, Kroger has remained an industry leader in offering in-clinic, at-home and free drive-through COVID-19 testing solutions. Supported by its team of experienced healthcare providers, Kroger has conducted over 250,000 COVID-19 tests nationally since April. Kroger also continues to offer free COVID-19 testing to all frontline associates.

More recently, Kroger became the nation’s first retailer to offer rapid antibody tests to customers in all Kroger pharmacies for just $25. Rapid antibody testing helps inform patients if they previously have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and results are typically ready in around 15 minutes.
