As everyone waited patiently to see legendary boxers Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. face off in a highly-anticipated match, fans witnessed what may become one of the most talked-about knockouts in boxing history, reminiscent of the way old school “Iron Mike” used to lay opponents out in the ring.

During the preliminary fight, newcomers Nate Robinson and Jake Paul took to the ring in what was supposed to be an interesting match of equals. Robinson, who is a 3 time NBA champion, and Paul, who is listed as a Youtuber and protégé of World Boxing Champ Shane Moseley, seemed like a weighted match until the punch heard around the world.

It took less than two minutes for Robinson to be knocked out cold by Paul, causing social media to start rereferring to Robinson as the real-life Apollo Creed.

It was very clear that Robinson was not prepared to step into the boxing arena and many are questioning why an NBA athlete with less than a year of training was allowed to fight in a Pay-Per-View match.

“You don’t play fight,” said former NFL footballer Shannon Sharpe during his sports show. “Nate had no business in this, first they should have put him in there with headgear.”

Robinson, who reportedly suffered head trauma, used social media to update fans on his condition. “Thank you , everyone, for all of the well wishes, I’m OK. I appreciate @triller for the opportunity as well as everyone that has backed me during the fight. To my coaches, trainers, fans, and teammates, I appreciate all of the time and support you guys put in with me…it wasn’t the outcome that we wanted, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to fight on the biggest stage that there has been. #holdat

But with all the people making fun of Robinson, we really want to commend him on his bravery for getting inside the ring. Paul even had some uplifting words for Robinson, praising him for his courage.

And the legendary “Big” George Foreman and Floyd Mayweather summed it up best when they both basically said all great fighters have been knocked down before.

AND WE MUST GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO SNOOP DOGG, who may have been the funniest boxing commentator we’ve ever heard. Good job to all involved.
