Hurricane Delta is on course to hit Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi as early as Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of Thursday afternoon, the hurricane was located about 310 miles south of Cameron, Louisiana, with 105 mph winds.

Delta is currently listed as a Category 3 storm, but is strengthening over the Gulf of Mexico.

declaration of disaster has already been issued for the city of Port Arthur, Texas. The declaration will help the city in the case of “widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property.”

The American Red Cross has released a readiness checklist for residents residing in East Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.
